Song meaning[edit]
"Whatsername" is written from the perspective of the Jesus of Suburbia. In the song, he reminiscences and mourns about his past experience with a girl whose name he's forgotten, and wonders how she's doing.
As he can't remember her name, the Suburbian calls her "What's-Her-Name", hence the title.
