The Simpsons Movie is a 2007 animated comedy film based on the TV sitcom The Simpsons. The movie centers around Homer accidentally polluting Springfield Lake and having to correct his mistake to regain his family's trust.
At the beginning of the film, Green Day play caricatures of themselves performing a concert at Springfield Lake; they then perish upon falling into the Lake's polluted waters. They also covered the sitcom's theme song, and released it as a single.
