"St. Jimmy" is the sixth track of American Idiot. This song is named after one of the main characters in the album, St. Jimmy; this song introduces him and is sung from his perspective. "St. Jimmy" was also released as a B-side to the "Jesus of Suburbia" single.
"Are We the Waiting" and "St. Jimmy" are often combined since they segue into one another. Both songs were combined into a single track for the iTunes release of American Idiot.
This song was played live at the National Bowl in Milton-Keynes, England; that performance was added on the Bullet in a Bible CD and DVD.
