Greatest Hits: God's Favorite Band is the second greatest hits album by Green Day, released on November 17, 2017.
The album's title references a joke made by Stephen Colbert during the band's March 22, 2017 appearance on The Late Show.[1] Additionally, Stephen's joke inadvertently referenced a comment made by Tré Cool on the Bullet in a Bible DVD, in which Tre remarked that the rain clouds over the venue had cleared because "God [wanted] to watch His favorite band again."
Background[edit | edit source]
Your Favorite Band has 22 tracks in total. The first 20 were previous hits from Green Day, 10 of which were previously included on International Superhits!, the band's first greatest hits album. The last two tracks are new songs: a re-recording of "Ordinary World", featuring a duet with the country singer Miranda Lambert, and a new single, "Back in the USA".
"Maria", "Poprocks & Coke", "J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)", "Geek Stink Breath", "Jaded", "Walking Contradiction", "Stuck With Me", "Redundant", "Nice Guys Finish Last", "Waiting", and "Macy's Day Parade" were originally included on International Superhits! but were omitted from Your Favorite Band, most likely because the songs did not chart.
