"Favorite Son" is a song recorded by Green Day for their cancelled album, Cigarettes & Valentines. It was later released on the Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2 compilation album, Japanese pressings of American Idiot, and as a B-side to "21 Guns".
Song meaning[edit | edit source]
The song is about how everyone likes George W. Bush and how he is everyone's favorite, but for people who don't like him or didn't vote for him, he's pretty much a drag. The song's title is derived from the slang term for a politician who relies on popularity rather than political prowess.
