"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is the fourth track on American Idiot. It is the third track on some international releases and on the digital edition since it is combined into one track with "Holiday", given it segues into "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".
The lyrics are from lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong; it was co-produced by the band and Rob Cavallo. It was released as the album's second single on November 29, 2004; the single peaked at #2 in the United States.
Song meaning[edit | edit source]
The song is told from the point of view of American Idiot's main character, the Jesus of Suburbia, going through a hangover after his high of being in the City ("Holiday").
