"Bang Bang" is the second song and lead single on Revolution Radio.

"Bang Bang" is noted for the stylistic combination of their earlier albums with the political themes from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. The song was inspired from mass shooting events in the United States, and is written from the viewpoint of a serial killer.

"Bang Bang" was released on August 11, 2016, via digital download. The official lyric video was released on YouTube on August 12, which had been viewed over two million times by August 17.

On August 28, Green Day announced on their website that the single would have a CD single release exclusively at Best Buy, with the Awesome as F**k live performance of "Letterbomb" as a B-side.

Music video[edit | edit source]

The song's music video was released on September 13, 2016, and was directed by Tim Armstrong. The video showcases a trio of bank robbers, who are wearing masks of the band members' faces, robbing a bank. Meanwhile, Green Day are performing in a house party. As the culprits flee in their car, they remove their masks, revealing themselves as two young women and a young man. The music video ends when they arrive at the party and throw the bank money in the air.
